UFO Invasion

I'm going to be straight with you here. I didn't even dig into the closet to include the unfinished projects therein. After snapping as many shots as the paparazzi in my main sewing area, I decided I was already aiming high. Here comes my personal shame...
Ok, I'm over the personal shame. Let's look at this in a glass half full kind of way. Just think of how great it is that I have such a nice start on so many things...so, so, so many things. Just think of how much farther along I am on these projects than if I hadn't even begun. (Don't tell me how I could have completed projects instead bits and pieces if I focused on one project at a time instead of flitting around like a fairy on Redbull. This is my quilting happy land, and there's no place here for the cold hard truth.) I could quilt for years without starting another project. But I will, because clearly I can't help myself! I am an awesome starter.

For the Year of Lovely Finishes, I'm picking Tutti Frutti (as I can pick only one project even though that feels so wrong) to finish. It just needs a bit more quilting.

Onward to 2015

I've scoured the internet for non-to-be-missed events for 2015. As I resolve to clear out some sewing room space by dealing with my unfinished object infestation, it makes perfect sense to join in the fun at A Year of Lovely Finishes at Fiber of All Sorts and the 2015 Finish-Along with Adrianne at On the Windy Side.

Since I love when freebies and quilting coincide, the following quilt alongs caught my interest. There's also the fact that they're great looking patterns. Deana at Dreamworthy Quilts is offering a Shimmer Braid block of the month on the Fort Worth Fabric Studio blog.

Kristy at Quiet Play is offering up one free pattern monthly. The flamingo is available for January.
This year, Aurifil's Design Team will be sharing mini quilts. Doesn't that sound fun?
Craftsy has a new block of the month including free video lessons. Isn't it lovely?
Will you be joining in on the fun?

2014 Recap

Let's look back on 2014, shall we? I joined a Round Robin through the Modern Quilting Facebook group, which was a first for me. I've enjoyed the experience, which has been a nice challenge and full of fun surprises.
Online bees have been another fun way to learn new skills without building upon my UFO collection. I participated in the Stash Bee, New Quilt Blogger Bee and the Hope Circle of  do. Good Stitches.
Also, I finished some things! Hooray for that. It's easy to forget my completions given the shameful amount of incomplete projects lurking around my sewing room.
I'm looking forward to what I hope will be another year of plentiful quilting opportunities.

Round Robin - Laura's Quilt

I would like to present to you Laura Capello of Thread Up Studio's Round Robin quilt.
It began with the sun in the center, and was followed up with Kathy's warm-colored stitch and flip triangle mound.
Joy added Anna Maria Horner feathers, and came up with an "Earth, Wind, and Fire" theme, to which Lisa added water.
Using free paper-piecing patterns from the Quilt Talk blog hop, I added text to visually express our theme.
I incorporated the color schemes of each section on a low-volume black and white background, to give some repetition to the top.
Have you ever incorporated text in a quilt? If it's on your bucket list, check out my Pinterest board.
