A while back, I participated in the AGF Stitched with Kimberly event for Imprint by Katarina Roccella, a collaborative effort between Art Gallery Fabrics and Fat Quarter Shop. During the blog hop, I shared my Fractal quilt top and a Clover & Violet Pepper Tote I created using a miniature version of the block and the Kites Plus Ruler. Feel free to check out my post from the hop. By my calculations, it's about time I unveiled the completed quilt.
Undoubtably, you've noticed the exquisite long-arm quilting, which is a combination of free-motion and ruler work. I hired the meticulous and talented Tisha Cavanaugh of Quilt Icing. She's a pleasure to work with and has extremely reasonable rates, given her level of expertise rivals what I've seen from nationally-recognized quilting instructors.
She also completed this intricate design in an astoundingly prompt fashion; though I suspect once word gets out, she'll be booked solid. I recommend that interested parties not dally to get put on her schedule. She takes non-local quilts too, so long as you cover shipping costs.
Her work is clean. My quilt was returned free of bird's nests from unburied stops and starts, pleats, or any indications of tension issues. Unlike some of my free-motion applications, that benefit from viewing at a distance, her work looks even better up close.
If you'd like to make your own Fractal quilt, snatch up the free pattern.Alternatively, check out Fat Quarter Shop's YouTube video.
Fat Quarter Shop has a kit available for making up the quilt in Imprint, as shown in the video.
I used prints from assorted Art Gallery Fabrics collections including Hello Bear Nectar Wildwood, Winged Aves Chatter Shine, Urban Mod Pointelle Celeste, Urban Mod Triangularity Topaz, Gramercy Commute in Taxi, Etno Pearl and Gold Metallic and Recollection Cuneiform Script.
The backing is Bee Sweet Sunset from Bonnie Christine's Sweet as Honey collection.
For binding, I used Bulbinella Polygons from Jeni Baker's Geometric Bliss collection.
I love how elegant and cozy this turned out thanks to Art Gallery's luxurious fabrics, Fat Quarter Shop's excellent guidance, and Tisha's phenomenal quilting.
I'm entering into the Modern Quilt Category at the Quilt My Way's Hello Sunshine Challenge Gosia is hosting.
