AGF Stitched with Kimberly: Timber

Some fabric lines are completely irresistible. Nightfall by Maureen Cracknell for Art Gallery Fabrics falls into this category for me. My heart was set on those bunnies and owls since I caught my first glimpse at Quilt Market in May.

Of course, I jumped at the chance to use this beloved collection for the Timber quilt. Timber is one of many free patterns and YouTube tutorials available courtesy of Fat Quarter Shop as part of the Art Gallery Stitched with Kimberly series.

I used Moon Stories Ash, Nox Iridescence Dim, Magical Gust Crisp, Birds of Night Mist, Moon Stories Spark, Luminaries Gold, Birds of Night Slate, and coordinating Pure Elements solids. You can see coordinating Art Gallery fabrics for all the collections on the AGF website. The backing is Moon Stories Spark.

Kimberly made her Timber quilt from Pat Bravo's Heartland Collection, and there's even a kit available. The pattern makes a good size quilt at 64.5" x 80.5" and provides an excellent opportunity to feature focal prints.

Tisha of Quilt Icing used 50 weight grey blue Aurifil thread to intricately adorn Timber with feathers, swirls, pebbles, and other lovely textures. She never ceases to amaze me!

  5. I love the quilting, but had even more fun trying to figure out the pattern, with the lights and darks lending and borrowing from each other in random places--so intriguing! As usual, you did a great job on the quilt, and the write-up. You are one busy woman!

  6. The quilting caught my eye on this one. I was surprised by how obvious it was, despite the busy piecing and fabric. I was particularly attracted the feathers heading up one side of the stem and down the other.
