Sorbet Quilt

I just wrapped up my Sorbet quilt, which was inspired by Leanne's Reflection at She Can Quilt. It is composed entirely of 2 1/2" strips sewn into strip sets, cross-cut, reorganized, and then sewn together into this pretty.

The value shift between the rainbow-bright blenders and the low-volume prints gives a dramatic overall affect.

If you want to make your own, I have it covered. Download my step-by-step color instructions here.

I primarily used Alison Glass's Sun Prints line and Pearl Bracelets by Lizzy House, along with other modern blenders and low volume fabrics that coordinated with the color scheme. Fabric.com has many of Sorbet's fabrics available at their online store too, but you'll need to order in half yard increments.

Professional long-armer, Linda Noordt did the long-arm quilting in a graceful floral pattern.

I used a Benartex floral fabric for the backing and binding. The way it ties in all the colors within the top is really working for me.

Quilt Market: Moda & Giveaway

Moda is a mogul of the fabric industry. The Moda booth at Quilt Market sprawls, filled with a variety of designers for every style. Let me show you a few of my personal favorites.

Sherri & Chelsi are debuting Summer Sweet, a sorbet array of cheerfulness.

Minick & Simpson merge pretty and patriotic in Mackinac Island. The quilt shown is the Derby House Block of the Month.

Jen Kingwell is a darling, delightful person.

Fine & Sunny is her upcoming collection.

Bonnie of Cotton Way and Camille of Thimble Blossoms have toned town their standard primary-colored brights for more subdued, vintage-esque shades of red, green, and grey.

Vanessa of Lella Boutique, who also authored Jelly Filled (on Amazon), shared her upcoming Bloomington fabric line.

The gorgeous quit behind her is Cathedral.

Modern Halloween fabric collections are hot this season. April Rosenthal joined the Market crowd to share her Midnight Magic line. The quilt on the far right is called Boo Quilt (simple enough), and there's a kit.

As a mom, I can't resist Stacy Iest Hsu's fabrics. (I'm being totally serious here. There are multiple 13" cubical bins to contain my obsession.) Goodness gracious, now there are frogs having a picnic! I can't be helped. If you need some Sunday Picnic too, let me enable you.

Blogger's Quilt Festival - ROYGBIV Category

AmysCreativeSide.com

Sorbet is my deceptively simple, yet exquisitely colorful entry in the ROYGBIV category of the Blogger's Quilt Festival at Amy's Creative Side. It was inspired by Leanne's Reflection at She Can Quilt, and is completely composed from 2 1/2" strips.

Value makes all the difference. Bright prints, mainly from the Sunprints collection were paired with low-volume prints.

I have created step-by-step color instructions you can download from Craftsy for free. If you make your own, please share it in the Flickr group.

Please vote for my quilt at Amy's Creative Side. Thanks!
